Would you recognize the face of hunger in our community?
In the affluent hill country community of Boerne, many residents are surprised to learn that roughly 1 in 5 children in our school district are eligible for the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. These children are at risk of facing food insecurity especially during non-school periods.
The Boerne Community Coalition LOVE Boerne Kids program steps in during non-school periods to help fill the food gap. We are a 100% all-volunteer 501c3 organization who works in partnership with churches, civic groups, businesses, schools, government organizations and other non-profit groups who all share the same vision - that no child in our community should be at risk of being hungry.. Our organization also provides additional year-round support to these children and their families through our other two programs, LOVE Boerne Families and LOVE Boerne Neighborhoods. |
