LOVE Boerne Kids, a program of the Boerne Community Coalition (BCC), prepares nutritious, bountiful lunches each weekday during the summer & school breaks for children at risk of being hungry.  During regular school days, these children receive meals through the National School Lunch & School Breakfast Programs.  During non-school periods, like Summer Break, when these meals are not provided, nutritious meals may not be an option.  The lunches are delivered to children participating in local camps & enrichment programs as well as to children living in neighborhoods in need.
  • Team Leader - You must be a Certified Food Handler to sign up for the Team Leader slot.  Team Leaders need to arrive by 9:15 am & stay after to clean up.  Note that as a Team Leader your primary role will be to supervise the lunch prep process.
  • Youth Assistant Leader - These slots are reserved for volunteers who have been pre-approved, completed Food Handler Certification, & trained by the BCC as Youth Assistant Leaders.  You will earn Leadership Service Hours.
  • Lunch Prep & Delivery - These volunteers will prepare the sandwiches & snacks for the sack lunches.  All Lunch Prep & Delivery volunteers must have a vehicle & be able to deliver lunches to 1-2 locations in the Boerne area.  Please only sign up for a slot for ages 16+ (with valid driver's license & vehicle).
  • Lunch Prep & Clean Up - These volunteers will prepare the sandwiches & snacks for the sack lunches.  After lunches are complete, they will help the Team Leader clean up & prepare for the next day, if needed.  Please only sign up for a slot for ages 12+.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
  • Feel free to sign up for multiple shifts.
  • Youth volunteers can earn service hours.
  • Children under 12 are welcome to come with a parent & help as a family unit.  Children under 12 cannot prepare sandwiches in the kitchen.
  • Please do not bring any extra volunteers to your shift (except children under 12).
  • Baseball cap or ponytail recommended.

COMMUNITY WORKDAY ORGANIZER
When: 1-2 times a year (Fall & Spring)
Where: Varies

One to two times a year (fall and spring) the BCC coordinates a community workday in a neighborhood in need. One to two volunteers are needed t0 work with George Klein (BCC Board Member) and Bob Dibble (Golfers Fore Others) to organize these workdays. Existing contact information and workday materials are provided (waivers, signup sheets, posters, etc.).

A community workday organizer would help to update signs and flyers, coordinate obtaining dumpsters, food, water, tables, and chairs using our existing contacts. They would also attend the workday as a BCC representative to place posters and signage, help check-in volunteers, direct volunteers & families to scheduled activities, answer any questions, and help to ensure the day runs smoothly.
